A REFLECTIVE REALITY

Within this project, the primary stakeholders are Indian Immigrants in America. These people are also my audience as they will be interested in learning more about their own ethnicity. In addition, I also have several other key audiences such as demographers and sociologists who are interested in understanding the Indian immigrant community better. While my primary stakeholders will interpret my project through their own personal experiences, my other key audiences will interpret my project through their own observations of others. Sociologists and demographers will interpret my project in context of what they see in the Indian immigrant groups in their surroundings. Often times, their knowledge of the trends and lifestyle will be congruent with what I have discovered in my research and might also be the same. Primary stakeholders will also find my information to be familiar to them. They will probably have seen many of the trends that I talk about in their own lives and simply see my project as an affirmation of what they already expected or known.
As a writer, I felt that I had to make sure to not have any bias included in my research as well as dialogue in my interviews. For example, I expected the majority of Indians to be republican due to what I experienced, however, I discovered that this was not the case. While this fact was contrary to my experiences, I had to present it in a way that was not biased. In addition, I could not go out of my way to find articles that confirmed my preconceived notions about my ethnicity. When Writing about this topic, I felt that the Indian community in America needed me to write about it. This is primarily due to the fact that recent hateful speech from Donald Trump has caused an uptick in hate crimes. I believed that by writing about the community and their lifestyle in America, it would help add dimension to the people’s understanding of us in America. As a result, I tried to make Indian immigrants seem relatable to. The way I did this was by making my interviews very personal.

I can use my domain as a portfolio or a showcase of everything I do and some samples of my work. I will also include major papers that showcase certain skills and research of mine. Extracurricular work I am doing with pictures and descriptions will be present as well. Basically, I will be able to turn my website into a digital resume mixed with other stuff. I will share it with employers or people like that. I will also consider using it as a way to show professors and other important people what I am doing. It would be a great way to let people have a look into my life.
I write like I am writing a speech. Essentially, I should be able to read my paper to some out loud and it should sound convincing and engaging to hear. My approach to writing is similar to how someone will build a house. I first establish a foundation: what do I want to talk about? How do I want to structure it? I then lay out the framework of the paper/house. I create a bullet point list in order of how I will hit each point. I then build everything else of the house/paper. I will flesh out each point in order from one to the next. I then wait a day or two for everything to settle and then will perform quality control on the house/paper. Does it fulfill its purpose properly? If not, I will go back to that section and adjust it. I will also round out the rough edges in my writing while I am at it.
For this project, I believe that the Indian-immigrant community as a whole is the main project stakeholders. Their families and the like in India will also be of importance as they will be interested in knowing what their ethnicity is like in America.
In addition, people who study demographics, immigration, and culture will also be interested in this project as it will help them gain insight into a specific ethnicity as well as its trends and movement. Government representatives in areas with large Indian communities interested in reaching out to them may also be interested as I talk about centers of the community in my project. A solid infographic is made by being able to condense all the information that you hope to convey in a way that is not only easy to understand but also concise. In addition, there should be one central goal for the infogrpahic that should be achieved. In addition, the infographic should also be engaging and visually appealing. There should not be large amounts of words on the infogrpahic as this will drive away potential audiences. By making it visually appealing, you will add to an infographic's ability to convey a message as that message will be far easier on the eyes of the audience. In addition, there should also be many pictures included in the infographic, or at least, illustrations. This way, the infographic will look far mroe dynamic and varied. Also, there should be one general design theme that flows throughout the infographic to make it appear cohesive to the audience. All of these qualities make a great infographic.
1. As a young adult, what drove you to seek employment outside of your country? 2. It seems as if the Indian community as a whole is heavily STEM focused. How did this affect you as you were growing up? 3. When you first moved to America, how was assimilating into the culture? How did your coworkers treat you and how different was life from back in India? 4. Did 9/11 impact the way you were treated in the American community and if so, how did it impact your professional and personal life? 5. In my research, I read that the temple is the center of social life in America for Indian immigrants. I would like to know how true this fact is and how important was the temple to you and how it impacted your family life. 6. As a person who lived in two different countries, how different are the values of an Indian and an American? Since you watched your children grow in the intersections of both cultures, I would like to know how these two cultures melded for them. 7. You went through the long and arduous immigration process all the way to the point where you obtained your citizenship. How did this process affect your personal and professional life? Do you think this process serves as a filter resulting in only a certain type of person coming here? I plan to ask these questions of my Father or my Uncle as they both experience their childhood and college years in India but moved to America and eventually became citizens here. I learned several things from the two books. For one, I learned what exactly is a multimodal project. These projects involve 5 key parts: linguistic mode, visual mode, aural mode, gestural mode, and the spatial mode. In addition, all of these modes should work together to convey an idea that the author has in mind. Also, we should perform a rhetorical analysis of the various forms of media that we use.
From the first chapter of the Carrol book, I learned a very important process of how to write. I was given a writers process that I hope to take advantage of in the future. On the other hand, the second chapter analyzed the changes that digital media brought to writing. While the role of the author remains virtually the same as before, the way in which the author provides information has greatly changed. For one, information now comes in a matrix form that intertwines many different forms of media and sources. In addition, due to the nature of our digital era, it is extremely important for digital writing to immediately capture the attention of the reader. My autoethnography topic will be over the Indian-American immigrant population: the first and second generation will be studied. This topic is of interest to me due to the fact that I myself am an Indian. In addition, I plan to specifically study the demographics of this population as well as determine the mentality and the culture of this specific group. How did they preserve their culture considering their very small population in America as well as how the first and second generation Indians in America live and how they interact.
