Within this project, the primary stakeholders are Indian Immigrants in America. These people are also my audience as they will be interested in learning more about their own ethnicity. In addition, I also have several other key audiences such as demographers and sociologists who are interested in understanding the Indian immigrant community better. While my primary stakeholders will interpret my project through their own personal experiences, my other key audiences will interpret my project through their own observations of others. Sociologists and demographers will interpret my project in context of what they see in the Indian immigrant groups in their surroundings. Often times, their knowledge of the trends and lifestyle will be congruent with what I have discovered in my research and might also be the same. Primary stakeholders will also find my information to be familiar to them. They will probably have seen many of the trends that I talk about in their own lives and simply see my project as an affirmation of what they already expected or known.
As a writer, I felt that I had to make sure to not have any bias included in my research as well as dialogue in my interviews. For example, I expected the majority of Indians to be republican due to what I experienced, however, I discovered that this was not the case. While this fact was contrary to my experiences, I had to present it in a way that was not biased. In addition, I could not go out of my way to find articles that confirmed my preconceived notions about my ethnicity. When Writing about this topic, I felt that the Indian community in America needed me to write about it. This is primarily due to the fact that recent hateful speech from Donald Trump has caused an uptick in hate crimes. I believed that by writing about the community and their lifestyle in America, it would help add dimension to the people’s understanding of us in America. As a result, I tried to make Indian immigrants seem relatable to. The way I did this was by making my interviews very personal.
